PT Assistant

Job Description

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to assist in the rehabilitation of patients. The PTA will implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and provide therapeutic interventions to improve patients’ mobility, strength, and overall physical function.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing treatment plans as directed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Conduct therapeutic exercises and modalities to enhance patient recovery.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, reporting any changes to the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Educate patients and their families about exercises and home care techniques.
  • Maintain and organize therapy equipment and treatment areas.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited PTA program.
  • State licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of physical therapy practices and modalities.Compassionate approach to patient care and rehabilitation.

Working Conditions

  • May involve standing for extended periods and lifting patients.
  • Work settings can include hospitals, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation centers, and home health environments.
